Artist coats hotel room with cheese

NEW YORK - Room 114 in the Washington Jefferson Hotel is definitely cheesy. Artist Cosimo Cavallaro has covered the entire room with 1,000 pounds of melted cheese - a mixture of shredded Gruyere, Swiss and other varieties. "Somebody asked me: 'Why cheese?' I don't know, why not?" Cavallore asks. The hotel, which is charging Cavallaro the usual $100 a night for the room, will clean up the mess when the exhibit ends June 20. But the hotel already has another publicity stunt lined up. Room 114's next guest will be a comic who promises to tell jokes to anyone who knocks on his door.
