What, Why?

When I started MutantNation back in the nineties did it for lots of reasons, to learn this whole web thing, to put together some of my strange interests. It was fun to think about a face on mars or ghosts or whatever. But the world of 2005 is an even stranger place than I could have imagined so while I will still be covering the more traditional strangeness out there, including movies, books and the like. Expect a lot more mutant science, politics, darkness and just out and out rants about this strange new world all live in. I hope you find something that you like and if not you know where the door is.

What happened to the old website?

Yes it’s gone, and this time it's realy gone. Most of the hits that were going to old content were just people leeching of the images anyway. Old stuff that I'm not going to update is probaly in the archive.

Hey your site looks like hell with Netscape 4.x

Yes it does! Netscape 4.5 was released in October 1998, all minor releases through 4.79 were bug fixes only; no functionality was added until we get into Netscape 6. This version of Netscape had the most incomplete and buggy implementation of cascading style sheets ever. Yes, I can and have written CSS that looks fine under Netscape 4.x but that’s not using CSS to its full ability. So no I do not worry about how things look in a 5 year old browser. My general rule of thumb is to support the current and last major release of all the major browsers. Netscape 7 has been out for a while, it’s free, go get it, you will like it, I promise. What? Your still here? GO, go get it!

Hey wait a minute this site is still acting strange, what's the deal?

OK you caught me, I am using a lot of nested CSS on this site and sometimes it just acts wacky. I'm still tweeking the main template but for now your best bet is good old IE and even then some pages are jumping around at times. Ah it's mutated OK and that's a good thing right?
